Contra Carpool
Dan Allison has created a Google Groups discussion whose purpose is to allow people to arrange carpools between Carson City, Reno, and Nevada City for the monthly contra dances. I think there are a lot of people who would travel to the other dances if there was an easier way to arrange carpools. Many of us are reluctant to drive by ourselves, but would enjoy the ride and and feel better about sharing the carbon footprint. I’m limiting this group at the moment to the three dances, though I realize there might be a desire for Auburn, Sacramento, and perhaps other places. Let’s start simple and be successful.
Both the Reno dance (Sierra Contra Dance Society) and the Carson City dance (Fun Family Dance) are in need of more dancers, and this is a chance to help each other out. Nevada City (Foothill Country Dancers), if you haven’t been to one of their dances yet, are a very wonderful and welcoming group, and their dances are definitely the highest level of quality anywhere close to Nevada. By attending those dances, you’ll improve your dancing ability and have things to bring back to our Nevada dances.
To join the group, go to http://groups.google.com/group/contra-carpool and ask to become a member. The conversations won’t be moderated, so please keep it on topic. If you need help with the process of managing your group membership, please ask me. You have several options for how to receive message postings.

Our house band, Train Wreck, which is Chris Bayer (fiddle), Mary Siders (banjo), Tom Dose (bass), and Cindy Gray (guitar).
