Brewery Arts Center's Grand Ballroom
Some special Fun Family Dances are held in the restored 1864 Grand Ballroom of the Brewery Arts Center, upstairs (or up the elevator) at 449 W King St in Carson City.
The ballroom was created in 1864 for... dancing! The Brewery building was built in 1860, from native limestone, coming from the same rock quarry as the Nevada State Capital. The Carson Brewery Company occupied the building from 1862 to 1948, where Tahoe beer “Famous as the Lake” was manufactured and bottled. The ballroom attracted customers for the brewery (though our dances these days are alcohol and smoke free). It was restored in 1998 with a new hardwood floor and decorations, but the tin ceiling and wainscot are original.
